There's no other or alternative mechanism, that is you pay for the car 30 days before you pick it up and Saab sends you the $2k back two weeks before delivery.

The deal with a tourist or European delivery is that eventually, the car must be exported to the US which is included in the price. If you can keep the car in Europe more than 90 days before shipment you can avoid paying sales tax here in California and I imagine other states too where they charge it.

You need not be in the states to arrange a European delivery. I can handle it all by fax, email and phone.
