Agree with your assessment...even when dirty, steel grey doesn't look it...save for the brake dust on the wheels of course.
I prefer the charcoal interior as it hides a lot and does clean up easily. My 97 900SET had the tan leather and my belt rubbed the seat back, eventually leaving a black band that I simply couldn't remove. Not an issue with the charcoal interior.
It is a matter of preference certainly, and I think steel grey and tan would be nice...and unique.
