Significant improvements were made to the car with the '02 models. The Aero has some unique attributes; lowered suspension, stiffer sway bars, more powerful engine, bigger tires and wheels, bigger brakes, but they can all be added later IF you want them.
Aftermarket parts are widely available for the suspension, but many report problems with ripping off their Aero chin spoiler on driveway ramps, etc. You may not want the car lower for that reason. '02 Aero sway bars are a commonly installed upgrade, cost is ~$180 for the parts.
Engine enhancements are available to give your Linear the same HP as an Aero. The Aero actually uses a smaller turbo than the Linear for faster spool-up, but the Linear Turbo moves more air due to it's size (I think). Nick at Taliaferro has previously offered to sell the entire Linear to Aero intake/turbo package to anyone who wants to do it.
Larger wheels and tires are also a common addition by many owners. But 16-inch tires and wheels are typicaly less expensive and more durable(meaning pot hole tolerant) than the larger 17-inch combinations.
Larger brakes can also be added, although this change can be more costly than most of the other items. Pads and calipers are identical, rotors are larger but are a straight bolt-on, other necessary part is the Aero's caliper mounting bracket to allow the calipers to clear the larger disc.
Other than the engine HP, almost all differences are "Wear Items", so your Linear can be upgraded one part at a time as the OEM parts wear out and need to be replaced anyway.
