I wondered the same thing when I read the news blurb yesterday. Being from the Detroit area, I know of three possible facilities where the Aero Academy could be operated IF it is moved from Atlanta.
The first is the Waterford Hills Race Track, located ~30 miles north of Detroit nearer to Pontiac, it is the site of various SCCA events during the summer months. This is a hilly road course only.
The second is Michigan International Speedway located ~45 miles west of Detroit in the Scenic Irish Hills area (I used to volunteer here while in High School to watch races for free). Besides a high speeed 2-1/2 mile steeply banked oval used by NASCAR and CART, there are a variety of road course layouts available as well as permanent pit/garage facilities. Roger Penske owns this track.
The third is located south of Detroit near the small town of Ottawa Lake. A performance driving school is already located at this site which is used to train anyone wishing to learn performance driving techniques, as well as Police Officers, Executive Chauffers and the like. For a while GM offered this program in their catalog of training classes/workshops.
