I had purchased a 2001 9-5SE with 43,000 miles on it. The dealer did not have any service records fore the vehicle, I do know that it came from SAAB Financial Services from the invoice he had. Before my purchase I called my local SAAB dealer to check the warranty and service of the car. I was told that the car was under warranty and SAAB had serviced it. Well I bought the car. A few weeks into my ownership I noticed a puff of bluish smoke emanating from my exhaust, it was only at startup and was inconsistent, didn’t always happen. I made an appointment with the dealer for the smoke problem and a faulty SID.

The dealer replaced the turbo, it seemed fine for a day and then the smoke problem came back. I called the dealer to advise them of the problem. The service rep told me to wait two weeks for all the oil that made its way to the exhaust system. Two weeks went by, and it still happens. I called service and made an appointment. He calls up my service record and says that only the 30 day and 10K service inspections were performed. (I did call them to verify the service records; I was told it was serviced by SAAB). He then states that this would not be covered most likely. Well!! They replaced the turbo two weeks ago! What changed and why the attitude??

From what I can tell, the car is in immaculate shape, everything is clean, I had it inspected by an independent garage, and they assured me it was maintained. I called SAAB and verified warranty and service(I guess I wasn't told the whole truth).

I guess I am trying to get any input from any 9-5 V6 owners if they have had any similar smoke problems, and what was an actual fix. Could I have received another faulty turbo from the Dealer?? Has anybody else had problems with service records and warranty work? Thanks in advance.
