You got lucky--I just had my car in two weeks ago at 49,900 for the 50K service, and just as we tipped over 50K, the darn car cuts out on the freeway (75 MPH, third lane over) with no acceleration, oil/battery lights on, and burning electric smell. Miracle we didn't get killed, there were no shoulders on the road (this was in Marin, Northern CA on 101 south), and we were on a blind curve.
So, at 4 PM, rush hour traffic, Saab Roadside Assistance isn't able to get us a tow truck for 1.5 hours. We can't get out the car, no place to go. The CHP finally sends their free highway towing service, and Saab (and AAA) are not able to tow my car until 1 AM. So I had to leave my car on an industrial scary street, and I'll be pleasantly surprised in the morning if my car has arrived at a repair shop, I guess. No way I could stay with it. Had to take a taxi home 50 miles.
Bummer is that Bianco Saab is closing their dealership/service, and it was less than a mile away.
I'll stop whining now. I haven't checked into these boards much since I bought the car and now I'm dismayed to see that this is a common and dangerous problem. Stumped...I wanted to keep this car for 10+ years, but now I'm not so sure. That was one of the most dangerous flameouts I've seen, completely out of the blue.
