use a good synthetic with A3 spec and change it according to your driving habits - 5K max for stop & go, or 6 months. Forget about snake oil, er - I mean additives. (Personally, I might consider an amsoil flush between oil changes though - if the engine's reasonably clean to begin with, although I haven't bothered)
With these engines, that seem to like to sludge up if mistreated, I think it's all the more important to err on the side of more than less, except in the additive department.
