Who makes the opener? Is it a US company?

It sounds like you have successfully programed the remote in the mirror with the remote opener. If that is the case you may need to tell the opener control box there is a new remote (the one in the mirror). The process is basically the same for all openers, only the names are changed. Look for a button on the opener that says learn or something like that. It should be on the side of the opener where all of the wires attach. Once you push this button it will likely begin to blink. The blinking will allow you to get down off the ladder (or the stacked chairs) and into the car. Press and hold the button you programed with your remote. It should then close.

If this doesn't work - come on home damn it!!! The Spanish have turned into French and don't deserve to have honorable folks like you providing security. I sort of made the leap you are in the military. If that's case, thank-you for your dedication to defending our country.

Where in Spain are you? Where I was in the Navy we use to stop in Barcelona and would stop for gas in Portugal. Can't remember the port. It's been so long that the origional Mini was being sold in the U.S.
