For what it may be worth:

AMSOIL products are tested against the specs claimed by AMSOIL.

With the exception of the XL series of engine oils, they usually are not licensed or "certified" for a number of reasons.
If interested, you can visit the AMSOIL web site and read what they have to say.

There are some oils on the market with specs that are only known to the OEM and the oil provider--the new VW spec comes to mind, as does the Volvo ATF spec. Makes it hard for anyone else to claim to meet the specs.

AMSOIL has been around for over 30 years now. If they made bad stuff, the company would have long since gone away. Pep Boys, Walmart, and another large chain have all contacted AMSOIL about carrying the products. A large number of oil companies have tried to buy the company. Base stock storage capacity is currently 1 million gallons, being increased to 1.6 million. Think the company intends to be around for a while.
