bummer -- another DI problem!

Our 2001 9-3 SE had to have its DI cassette replaced 3-4 months ago, with 13K miles.
On Sat night, we went to a restaurant in our 2001 9-5 Aero, with 19K miles. When it was time to leave, the valet said that the battery had died, and needed a jump. But, when we opened the hood, the tell-tale sign of DI failure was there -- engine cold to the touch, but the DI cassette was very very hot. A jump didn't work . . .
Sadly, the restaurant's parking lot is accessible by a ramp that is very narrow, so the tow truck couldn't tow the car to the dealer. The car will be sitting in the parking lot until Monday . . . .
I'm hoping that the dealer will simply let me come over and pick up a DI cassette, so I can go to the restaurant and switch it out myself. Then I can drive back and they can flash the new software. We shall see!
Worst part is that I was the high bidder on a DI cassette on ebay for a long time, but when the price reached $280, I figured, nahh, I have 4 months left in the lease, and don't want to outlay that kind of cash unless I actually buy the car off lease. Now I wish I had bought the thing! It took the tow truck 45 minutes to get to the restaurant, and by the time we got home with a cab, we were home probably two hours later than we otherwise would be if I could have simply switched out the cassette.
Cest la vie!
