Try get history from Saab Sacramento - pissed me off!

The 01 9-5 I bought is an off lease from them, it was then auction off to my local dealer. My dealer gave me a full summary of all the works done in SaabUSA records, but unfortunately not in details, e.g. "Transponder", "Turbocharger", etc... without describing was it replaced or simply serviced.
Phoned up Sacramento today, the Assisatnt Service Mgr (a she) didn't even bother to ask me to prove my ownership, just plain refused to share .. "it is personal info, need previous owner approval to release ... wouldn't you like your personal info being shared ...."... holy sh*t, sounded like I'm asking for medical records! It is just a car, a machine ....... dumb bitch!
I had had NO resistance whatsoever in 2 of my previous experience in getting service records (note: both incidents were pre-purchase): once with a BMW dealer back East for the service records on an used 540i, and once with my local BMW delaer for a used 328i which I was considering between it and the 9-5.
Am I just plain lucky in the past dealing with friendly & helpful people in BMW? Is service records really considered "confidential" info?
