that it might be the A/C expansion valve. This is a known problem. I believe Saab switched to a newer version of the expansion valve somewhere in 2003. Wife has a 2003 and the expansion valve makes occasional noise varying from a low frequency hum to a whistling whine at A/C shut off.
The DI does have a cleaning cycle that makes a buzzing noise, more like a quick shake of a small rattle. I think some DI buzzes louder than others, I have heard the DI buzz in both our 9000s but not from our 9-5.
Not sure who your dealer is, anyone who is familiar with Saabs should know both of these sounds. You may want to consider another dealer if feasible.
