Aero wagon trail of coolant

My first post, I've been a Saab owner since 1989 (900, 9000 Aero, most recent 2001 Aero Wagon). I read this board thoroughly before buying the Aero wagon last year from the original owner at 16,000 miles who, I was confident, had maintained the car extremely well. I've been very happy with the car, its spirit and capacity. I started the car this morning, saw a SID message to add coolant, so I topped off the reservoir with a bit of water. At the time I noticed some dried coolant spray in the immediate area of the reservoir and was somewhat surprised since I had the car in for an oil change a week ago. Wouldn't the technician have seen this? Driving home this afternoon, I noticed the air conditioning was having a hard time. Soon after the temperature gauge started to climb. I pulled off and shut the car down just when it red-lined and left a puddle of coolant all over the place. The car's been towed to the dealer. Should I "discuss" the coolant footprints with the dealer. The car is still under warranty, so I'm not worried about a worst case scenario, but is this something that could have just started, or would the signs have been there and perhaps not noticed. Speaking of worst case scenario, could this be a head gasket. I replaced one on my 9000 and can't help but wonder????
