That's exactly my conundrum. Was thinking about getting an '02 Aero CPO at around $25-26k, but the payments would only be about $125 more a month (and an extra year) on a brand spankin' new '04 Aero at around $37k.
With a CPO I would save about $11k, and still have about 3 years of warranty left. But on the downside the CPO will likely need new brakes, tires etc. within the year. The new car will have 3 years free maintenance and shouldn't need any tires, brakes etc. within that time.
Also, even though it a a CPO so it has some built in trust factor, you still don't know how the "cared for" the previous owner was and how the owner treated the transmission etc. With the new car I will get 4 years warrany and can buy the other coverage for the other two, so I can have 6 years of warranty compared to the 3 years on the CPO. Also the Aero academy has value and is something I would like to due.
Last but not least with new I can get my Aero exactly the way I want it, not necessarily so with the CPO because I can't look forever as others can.
So currently I am leaning towards a new '04 Aero (with ventilated seats!!). I am planning to drive it till it won't drive anymore (at least 10 years) so all things considered, the $11k saved (less maintanence, tires, brakes etc. probably only $8-9k) doesn't seem worth it to me. Thoughts anyone?
