The three different bolts I have here measure 14mm over the high point.
My two different E16 sockets measure 14.6mm over the highest (biggest) point.
The E18 measure 16.6mm.
But also, the E18 socket measure 12mm over the low points. That's why it's possible to get by using the E18 because it still snags the top (14mm) of the bolt head.
As an un scientific notice, the Internal (T) and external (E) doesn't follow each other in size.
The T60 is in between a E14 and E16, T55 is a perfect match for E12 and T25 is a good match for E5.
