You can discon the battery for a few minutes and reconnect. I don't think that a radio code is required on any 9-5's. Perhaps others can comment on that. Have key out of ignition when reconnecting. There is a fuse that can be pulled to get the same result. I do not know which off hand.
You must have been pushing things quite hard. Do not have any idea about the whistling sound. You could around look to see if any hoses have popped off. But if you reset things and all is well and quiet, no need for that.
Back off the SMBC then up-adjust until you can't blow through it anymore, than tighen a small bit more and install. Then up-adjust from there. Note that when boost is increased to higher levels, the ECU will see this, and will first try to control via the BPC, then will fight the added air mass flow by closing the motorized throttle. It will see that it cannot contain the increase of boost and will throw a CEL. Normal use of the SMBC to get a mild increase in torque in gears 1&2, and improved turbo spoolup, are trouble free. If the system was not particular about such things, you would be able to do conventional MBC or MBC+A mods, but such are not possible on any T7 systems.
So discon the battery, then give things another try. I don't think that we have had anyone post that they gave up on getting one to work right. Make small changes and don't try to force the system too much. Note that excessive SMBC settings will also be counter productive as the tire traction will be exceeded, and again the motorized throttle will be reducing air flow.
Connecting a SMBC (or a MBC) backwards will create a situation where the wastegate will not open and the boost will be excessive! Typically we see that having a SMBC set to high will create a limp mod that will reset with the next startup cycle and CELs are not observed.
