Lots of talk about filters on other sites...I believe http://www.bobistheoilguy.com has good discussions.
Based on lots of these type of tests and discussions, I personally have switched to the Purolator Pure One PL20195 (Remember Ford Windstar 3.8L for convenience).
The PureOne is a higher pressure drop design, although it is the subject of opinion as to how much of a problem this may be. Better filtering means higher pressure drop in most cases. I'd like my turbo to get oil at max pressure, thank you very much.
I dismantled both sizes of Pure One filters, and if I remember correctly, I calculated about 60% more filter area in the 20195. This advantage, I reasoned, would cancel out the pressure drop issue, and make the PureOne the filter of choice!
The PureOne has also received accolades of sorts for build quality (no cardboard like the Fram line), and I have to concour that I was impressed as I examined the interiors myself.
A little more oil capacity cant hurt either, and maybe the engine will run a couple of degrees cooler to boot???
Cheers!
Craig
