The single, most important part of the suspension Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Pep Boys Tires, Peter Romano, Tue, 27 Jul 2004 12:19:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Is the tires. Those four small contact patches determine everything you feel about the car - accleration, braking, and turning.
You've got a really nice car - decent tires are a good investment. If you're looking to save money, try mail order. I've actually done very well with my local tire chain (Town Fair Tire where I live), by telling them I'll go mail-order, and can they match it? In general, I've been able to get good tires for only about $10 a tire more than mail order.
Pep Boys tires are inexpensive, and are a good value for the money. However, it's definately a You Get What You Pay for. Handling and turn-in will be a lot worse than what you've got now (assuming you've got decent tires now). And the wear will be lousy. Otherwise, no big deal.
