'99 SE wagon with 125K miles, trouble free except for a sun roof motor dying. About 6000 mi ago engine would have a 2-3 second stumble about ten minutes into the morning drive which is about after 12-15 miles on the hwy. It would do the same in the evening if the car sat all day. Occasionally there would be a second stumble, 5-10 seconds long, 1-2 miles further in the drive. After about a month, with the stumbles getting more common, the check engine light came on. The computer said throttle body and $700 later I had a new throttle body. Three thousand miles later(about 6 weeks) the same symptoms return. Yesterday, on the interstate, driving home from the airport where the car was parked for 5 days, the engine whent thru a 20 second stumble with revs dropping slowly to D-E-A-D. It took a minute of cranking but it finally re-started. Check engine light never came on.
Today, a slight stumble and light came on for good.
Has anyone else had these symptoms? And what's up with the check engine light?
