Can't turn the brake rotors?

Hear a grinding sound when applying the brakes and found out that my rear passenger side brake pad was down to the metal! I know I should have noticed that I was getting to that point, but had the car in at the dealership two weeks ago for a "comprehensive" oil change and check, and the only thing they mentioned is that I will need new tires, nothing about the brakes. Needless to say, when I called the dealership to schedule the brake work I was quoted about $480 to do the rear brakes which would include two new rotors. The service manage said "on Saabs the rotors cannot be turned", is this true?
