The same engine sold in new vehicles is spec'd for synthetic. So with some folks sludging up their oil, there might be some wisdom in keeping up with these changed. Use semi synthetic at least. Saab is changing its oil lineup too. Perhaps they are going strictly synthetic with their marketing agreement with Mobil. But the chang intervals keep going up too. That means that they now do 2 free services for 30,000 miles, instead of the three they had in 2003. More cost cutting.
Many folks who are fanatics about synthetic oil change their own.
"SCUSA expects this new offering to completely replace Saab branded oil; consequently sales of Saab Turbo Oil 5W-30 Semi Synthetic and Saab High Performance Turbo Oil 0W-40 Fully Synthetic will be discontinued by September 30, 2004 or until the supply is exhausted. Saab Dealers are required to utilize factory recommended motor oil for No-charge Maintenance, Warranty repairs that require engine oil replacement, or any Saab Direct Mail offer that includes motor oil.
