At one point there were posts about these needing an added fastener. Don't know any details of that.

The lamp slides into place nice enough and a 'finger' springs up to capture the shell that is slides into. On mine, pushing the lamp in hard did nothing as the finger would not go in far enough to be able to pop back up to lock it in place. I found that by grasping the head lamp and pulling that out as the turn signal lamp is pushed in, that the finger will latch and lock the lamp in place. With a flash light you can see that detail from the engine bay side. On the left side, the battery cover needs to be removed to see in there. To remove the lamp, the plastic finger can be pushed down from the engine bay side.

So when you replace the turn signal lamp housing, look from the engine bay side with a flashlight to make sure its properly locked in place. It is a system that works ok, but you need to double check to see if it is really secured.
