Should be fine. It seems that when one is driving down the road and the DI fails with the throttle open, all that A+F hits the hot cat and things can get extremely overheated very very fast. If one has cruise control on, the ECU may be opening the throttle even more and making a bad situation even worse. I don't know why the ECU can't detect that the A+F is not igniting at the plugs and kill cruise and close the throttle at least! If one wanted to program the ECU to destroy the CAT when the DI fails, perhaps one could not make things any more descructive than the current software. The trouble should be seen at the front O2 sensor will imediately go off scale as well. These two 'alarms' could also be cross checked by an ECU trying to save the CAT. Maybe the ECU sees the O2 sensor go nuts and adds more fuel to attempt to correct a lean mixture. I don't recall T5 owners reporting dead CATs like I see with the T7s.
