a/c glitches on vacation in OBC, NC

Just in the OBX for a week -- very warm -- while in Hatteras, turned the car on -- and a/c fan sounds like a roar and storm.
Noise abates a bit -- but when it starts -- sounds like the fan or fan motor is worn out.
I don't think there are any fault codes...
Going home in a couple of days -- hope the a/c keeps going -- even if noisy!
Any ideas on this problem?
