ACC fault code 08 on 2000 Aero

Hi,
Yesterday I noticed I had no air coming from my front vents. I tested the AAC system by pressing Auto and OFF simulateously, which performed the calibration sequence. The system went through the auto calibration sequence and air flow returned to my front vents. It also returned a '0' on the left side of the AAC display. Today, it happened again so I performed the calibraition again. Again the air returned to the front vents but this time the AAC display returned '1 08'.
I've read about this dreaded error code on this board, and it appears my mixing flap is toast, requiring an expensive repair. My vehicle is under CPO warranty so I'm covered there, but I'm concered about this happening on a vehicle only 4 years old. I was planning on driving this vehicle from many years, but if I have to look forward to a $2000+ repair in another four years when my vehicle is out of warranty.
Does anyone have any details on this repair. Is the part being replaced a 'better' part. If the broken mixing flap is being replaced with an identical plastic part, I don't have much confidence this won't break again. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
KevinH
