The boost pressure control valve thinks there is no boost as long as the ball is closed and air is not passing through the valve. That is the whole point of the SMBC...to trick the BPC valve into thinking there is no boost so it will boost more than it normally would. I personally believe "BPC delay" does not exist. If it does exist, the delay is only so the system can analyze different conditions to make sure everything is ok and boost can be applied. Either way you are bypassing a critical component of T7, the boost pressure control valve. Some will argue this point and that is fine. The bottom line is you are still tricking the BPC into thinking there is no boost until the ball opens, even if it eventually opens under full boost. Even if tuned mildly, the throttle angle will not match the boost level until that ball opens. The turbo will be working harder for no reason. Knock control is not 100% and contrary to popular belief, it is possible to make a T7 engine knock severly regardless of the safeguards in place.
