Eligible for CPO.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Put money down on a 9-5...extended warranty?, Brian_in_MA, Tue, 7 Sep 2004 04:29:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A 2001 with 52k miles, although the factory warranty has expired at 50k, should be eligible to be Certified up through 60k miles.
Is there some reason your Saab dealer can't or won't certify the car? Some dealers assume that because the warranty has expired the car can't be certified, but that's not true. If it's a 2000 and newer and has less that 60k it can be CPO'd. 2000's will shortly be ineligible for CPO when the 2005's come in, but then 2001 will be the oldest eligible for certification.
The actual cost of the Saab 6/100 CPO warranty policy is very reasonable. It's the cost of bringing the car up to CPO standards that can be pricey, although even if the car needs tires and brakes, the total of that and the warranty policy will still be competitive with what you could purchase an aftermarket warranty for all by itself.
