I installed an Infinity BassLink in the trunk 2 years ago, along the left side trunk wall.

It fits perfectly (it has an incredibly small footprint), and I wired it off the speaker feed to the rear deck 6x9's for audio signal, and typical power line setup from battery to trunk.

I was skeptical as to the amount of bass the BassLink would give me, given it is a single 10" with a secondary 10" passive radiator, driven by its own dedicated 200W amp onboard. But, I have to say, once I fired it up I was blown away by its output. With the ski passthrough down, the bass is just huge. With the ski passthough up, its is still big and rich, only with less boominess.

My prior vehicle I had a pair of 10" JL Audio subs installed directly in the read deck, driven by 800W, and I must say I think the BassLink compares well in both sound and volume.

The remote output level knob that comes with the basslink is a nice touch as well. I installed it in the little cubby below the radio. I have never had to turn it up past the 12 o'clock position (about 50% max).

Once the basslink was in place, I was able to dial down the bass to the HK system, allowing a little more volume headroom to the rest of the speakers before distortion sets in, given that they were no longer charged with pumping out the low end. The basslink takes a full range signal off the 6x9's and uses its own crossover to cutoff everything above whatever adjustable frequency you set via a small knob on the unit itself.

All in all, unless your goal is to roll your windows down and announce your upcoming presence a mile in advance, the basslink is a tremendous solution, and you can get it all installed for around $250 - $300.

In addition, when you sell the 9-5, you can easily take it out and re-use it in another vehicle.
