Wagon tire sizing on new wheels?

I've got an '01 9-5 wagon that I'm putting new wheels on. I believe the OEM wheels are 16x6.5(?). The new wheels going on are 16x7.5. I'm also putting new tires on the car and need to know if I should get a wider tire to accommodate the wider wheel? I'd like to get a little bit of rim protection in the new tire as well so I was thinking of stepping up from the OEM size of 215/55-16 to a 225/55-16 tire. Any thoughts? Thanks.
