I also noticed increased oil consumption after the PCV modification; went from zero consumption to about 1 litre per 1000 miles. Like Brian, I have reconnected the small hose to the throttle body back to the crankcase nozzle; rather than the oil filler pipe. This has resulted in oil consumption back to zero.

My thoughts are perhaps there is there is more oil mist in the lower crankcase due in older engines due to some blow past the pistons. This oil mist is then being sucked out of the filler pipe after undertaking the PCV modification?

The seconf part of the modification remains (enlargement of vent hole in oil separator to 10mm) and this should reduce overall pressuer in the crankcase and potential failure of oil seals.
