I have 168k on my 95 V6 and just had my first DI failure. One of the cylinders was not firing. This can cause unburned fuel build up in the system which in turn can fry your catalytic converter. I was lucky it did not though. It happened on a long journey from DC to NC. I did not realise what it was as my check engine light came on. I drove on it for about 300 more miles as car ran ok. Took it to an indy in Charlotte who diagnosed the problem. Popped a new one in and good as new.
I noticed a loss in acceleration when it happened but kept the rpms low. I'm sure it would have been a different story on a 4 banger though.
I change out my plugs at about every 15k. Indy thought it was a bit excessive and said they would go for 30k. I think I'll keep with the 15k or less as it has worked so far for me. My rambling will end here...
