All I can do is relate my experience with a 2003 Aero Wagon.
I put a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 225/45-17 on the optional 17x8 Saab P/N 02 86 286 wheels.
Cornering, braking and acceleration are all excellent, both wet and dry.
The cars anti-roll bars could be stiffer.
I started near the factory pressures at 38psi.
The rears rub a little on large bumps, you couldn't carry a full load.
Ride was a little noisy.
Lost about 3.5 mpg.
I bent 3 wheels that summer, one on an expansion strip in the middle lane of I-95. This is in the Boston area where the roads are significantly BETTER than New York City or New Hampshire.
The dealer suggested higher pressures. (After selling me some new rims.)
I went to the higher book pressures of 43 front and 42 rear.
The road noise got worse.
The car is quite a bit less stable in a straight line.
The tires almost feel like they are bias ply, not radial ply.
But I haven't bent any wheels.
I would NOT choose this setup again. I would take softer tires like the Bridgestone S-03PP or Yokahama AVS Sport and also stick with the stock
17x7 wheels.
But you live in the land of the 1" speed bump.
This might work for you.
A more extreme tire is the BFGoodrich KD.
You might also like stiffer anti-roll bars and perhaps a lowered suspension.
