Fog light protection.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I have been running with two broken, but operable, fog lights for a while now. The left side light has hac a broken mounting "ear" for 3 years which interferred with perfect aiming, and the right side light has had a broken, but intact, lens for nearly a year. I have been reluctan t to replace them since they still worked, are quite expensive, and are prone to easy breakage.
Yesterday morning I caught a golf-ball sized rock dead center in the right side fog light. The rock was wedged into the housing when I discovered it while walking to my car in the pm. I remember seeing a large stone low bouncing across my traffic lane during my 5:30am commute but thought I had missed it since I heard no sound.
Now for my question. Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the backside of the Euro spec fog-light replacement panels (with a Dremel or razor-saw), and then fit them in the lower fascia panel in front of the fog lights? I know this would result in a 70's era louvered light appearance but it might prevent stone breakage of these expensive and fragile components.
Thanks.
