When Saab was Saab these things were just quirky, like the falling headliner on the early 900's. In the entire production run of almost 15 years they never saw fit to correct that problem and ended up with aging 900s with plenty of engine life left but looked like hell with drooping interiors. A potential Saab buyer that saw one probably ran like hell, figuring Saab was a Treblinka in disguise.
And the tradition goes on, with aging 9-5's with scuffed, scraped, scratched, discolored bumper trim which nobody is willing to change for the price of a new bumper.
Someday Saab (or GM or whoever) will figure out that having a pool of good-looking older cars carrying the Saab emblem will keep building a positive image for an expanding buying public.
Or maybe they just want the cars to age so ungracefully that they'll be retired prematurely?
Like I said, I just don't get it.
