I am sorry to read about your starting problems. Ususally, this does not have anything to do with a weak battery. As a matter of fact, if your saab engine is in a good condition, it will start even when the starter merely "turns over". So even with a weak battery (i.e., in freezing temperatures), Saab will start. So you definitely would waste your money on a new battery.
I experienced a dead battery in my 9-5 last winter. It would be hesitant to react to my remote control and the dome light was very weak. Still, the starter tried to start the engine but just one turn and then - deadly silence, no lights, nothing. This is how today's batteries take a farewell. Without a warning, usually overnight :).
Anyway, I just wanted to point you away from your battery to (a different) source of your problem (i.e., fuel system or motor management). I would look there...
