I've been down this path. The OM recommends 92 octane. The car will run with no problems on lower octane fuel but there is a loss of performance and, importantly, mileage--enough to cover premium's extra cost. In California we can now get only 91 octane so I'm not getting the best performance until I leave the state on a trip and can fill up with 92. It's frustrating :-(
