I just installed a Omnifi DMP1 in my 03 Aero via an FM modulation unit. It sounds a lot better than I expected, but still not as good as the CD player. I just couldn't justify spending the money on SAAB's cd changer for the car...not for only 6 discs. If it played mp3 cd's, than I probably would've gone for it.
I'm still pretty 'iffy' about this setup, the unit itself is great. I also have the wireless link for it, so I can have music cued up and switched out just by pulling in my driveway. It syncs wirelessly with my home LAN. I'm just not all that happy about the dynamics of the sound itself. Maybe I just got spoiled with the quality of the stereo itself (which btw I think is one of the best stock stereos in a car these days), but it's almost refreshing to put in a regular cd after listening to mp3's. Even tested with mp3's at 320kbps...sounds no different than 192kbps. I'm also kind of an audio freak, so maybe my expectations were just higher...although FM modulation will never sound as good as direct inputs, I realize that. Family and friends all say it sounds great though.
The convienence is there for sure...it holds 20gb worth of music, so that's nice and all...great for a road trip, and not having to switch out cd's is nice. There's also a unit out called the NEO Jukebox...holds 120gb...wow! You can find it here: http://www.ssiamerica.com/
I picked up the OmniFi unit on eBay pretty cheap so I just went with that. I have 140gb or so worth of music that I ripped myself...so switching out 20gb every month isn't that big of a deal...just so back and forth about the sound quality.
I'm told there's FM modulation units out there that actually sound better than others...I went with a Power Acoustik EFM-10 and was told that's one of the best out there.
Hope this helps!
