Pads and Rotors AGAIN!

My 2000 9-5 wagon went in for the 40,000 mile checkup last week and I was informed I needed new front pads and rotors. These were both replaced, partially covered by warranty, at 23,000 miles. Since my car is out of warranty this time, SAAB corporate was no help. It seems ridiculous to me that rotors should wear out that quickly.
Does anyone have recommendations for non-SAAB rotors and pads that might last longer? I am not a do-it-yourselfer, so I am looking to an independent shop for this work.
And no, to answer the posts I might expect, I dont think its my driving style. This is my 6th (and last) SAAB and on the others I owned I cant remember replacing the rotors before 80K or 90K. The dealer admitted this was a problem on these models, but insisted it was designed that way.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Disenchanted SAAB owner -- STEVE
