What does the low oil light do?
It should light up with ignition on before you crank the engine. If not, the oil pressure sending switch may be gone, which is not unusual.
Please post year, variant, engine, miles, trany etc with posts.
What do you mean by oil spray?
ebay? The seller may not know the history of the vehicle. I would contact them right away and tell them that there is no oil pressure and that the engine is banging. This does not sound good at all. Engines that have a lube related failure are need expensive! repairs or need a replacement engine. These are not typically been driven in that state then have a DI failure. I would be inclined to believe that the engine failed and someone put an dead DI on the engine afterwards.
An engine can loose oil pressure and limp along, but these do not make noise until seconary damage has occured. Nelegectd oil changes will cause the oil to sludge up and that can stop the oil flow. Often the valve cover will be removed to allow inspection. If all gummed up, the VC gets put back and the engine is pronouced unusable in that state. Sometimes the oil pan is removed to inspect and that is a lot of work and sometimes not done. You might see signs of either.
A sticking oil pressure relief valve can lower pressure, but again, noise might mean that things are too late. That relief valve is easy to inspect and free up in many cases. Does not happen very often.
You can also have a compression check done.
I would drive the vehicle.
