Pixels useful, TCS failsafe.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: 1st figure out what your looking at...., Mike P, Tue, 9 Nov 2004 12:33:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The pixels in the SID is just info, nothing you really need, annoying when the display loses pieces, and there's a ton of posts on these BB's about fixes, and conspiracy theories about why this part should or shouldn't be recalled.
The TCS uses the anti-lock brake hardware to compare wheels speed front to rear and/or side to side and to apply the appropriate remedy, closing the throttle or applying the brakes to one wheel. If the TCS light is lit that means it's operating currently or there's a fault. There's a TCS button that will light up TCS OFF, emphasis on the OFF, for when you want to spin the wheels (only Olaf knows when), does that TCS defeat button still work? It will only switch on the TCS OFF light when the vehicle is on, but at rest. You can't defeat the TCS while driving along, only when stopped.
Neither missing SID pixels or a TCS light would send me to a dealer for an unscheduled visit, I'd wait until service was required and take care of it then.
