Smell after fuel pump change: help

I had previously posted about faulty fuel gauge readings. As expected, dealer changed the fuel pump...
There is a lot of fuel smell inside the cabin. Dealer said this is expected and will go away soon! I inspected the access site underneath the rear seat: It looks less tight that it used to be, and I can actually turn it by hand. Is this normal? Can I tighten it myself or is this a job for the dealer? Should I expect the smell to go away or is this dangerous?
Appeciate any feedback or help in this matter.
Thanks and regards
