I've got an 04 V70R - way better seats than my 01 9-5

Not even close (for me, of course, as seat comfort is quite relative). I didn't have the aero wagon, but I've driven a few of the new ones and they are pretty good, but I didn't find them to be as supportive as the seats in my R. The atacama leather is quite nice as well. I found that in either vehicle, conditioning the seats with lexol really makes a difference in support. With the lexol applied, the surfaces have a much more sticky feel, and you don't slide around as much as an untreated dry seat.
