I understand where you're coming from. For the longest time I truly wanted to believe that my car was reliable. I can't however, say that 17 trips to the dealership in the last 34 months constitutes a reliable car. (yes--17, I counted them up a few days ago). I will completely agree with you that I am picky and like things to be the way they should be. On the other hand, I don't think that wanting a turbo that doesn't smoke like a siv at startup, a decent DI cassette, an okay catalytic converter, ball joints that don't wear out in 15k miles (mine replaced 3 times), SID displays that don't lose pixels, on and on, is too much to ask for out of a modern car, and one costing as much as these do.
Please don't misunderstand me. I love my 9-5 (somehow). Even though it is what I consider a lemon, it provides so many things that so many others don't. The dealership network definitely could be restructured, I too agree that replacing random parts to see "if that fixes it" is absurd. I estimate that my dealership has sunk a MINIMUM of $10-12,000, maybe more, on warranty repair.
I'm glad to hear yours has been so wonderful, others of us really do have problematic SAABs, as much as others don't like to hear it.
