I called Onstar as soon as I heard of this and was told 2005 9-5 would not have gen 6. Without built-in Bluetooth or Verizon Bluetooth phones, this would have been very nice to have.
I just called Onstar again to confirm. The rep said 2005 9-5 has generation 5(analog). Onstar is not sure if and when Saab will go gen 6. They said if you call from the vehicle they can be absolutely sure. Mike Lynch, you could try this with a ‘05 and report back. Maybe Saab will do a mid-year switch over.
I guess given the future redesign of the 9-5 and the low demand for Onstar on Saabs, it makes sense to stick to an older generation. Also, I assume GM is not certain of the demand/successes of the Onstar/Verizon package. Although from the sound of my conversation tonight, Onstar is going all gen 6 eventually.
