I drive an '04 SportWagon I purchased in January. It has a little more than 15K on it as of today and drives like a dream.
As recommended to me:
A max rpm of about 4000 for the first 1000 miles. Occasional _short_ bursts of heavy throttle (as in passing the slowpoke who is doing 60 in front of you) are beneficial - the increased combustion chamber pressure helps to seat the rings against the cylinder walls.
Let the fluid temps (water and oil) come all the way up before using more than light throttle pressure after your first start of the day... 5 minutes seems about right. You have to guess about the oil temp but remember it can lag well behind the water temp as your engine warms up. You also want to keep the Turbo needle away from the high end of the scale until all the fluids are at their optimal temperature.
Don't lug the engine (e.g., low rpm and heavy throttle).
Some still say you should cool the turbo down after heavy driving. I remember the cars idling at the Aero Academy after autocross use to let the turbos recover, tho you'll most likely not be driving that hard to begin with. Still it's a good idea to treat it with some respect.
Of course there are other trains of thought. Some say drive hard right from the get go. I can't remember anyone having any problems with driving hard in the beginning tho, before your first oil change, take it easy.
Happy Saabing!
