I am driving along on the turnpike and I notice the temperature gage is low, about 1/5 of full reading. It is normally just shy of 1/2 when the car is warmed up. I stop at a rest area and get some coffee and when I get back on the turnpike the gage reads the normal ~1/2.
Later in the trip I look at the gage and it is real low, about 1/10. I check on the gage later and I see it drop to zero. The gage just fell to the stop. The car still drives fine and there was heat in the cabin. The air temperature was 30°F
The car is a 2000 2.3 lpt with 60k miles. The coolant was changed by the dealer when they put the new turbo in at 55k miles.
Any clues if it is a theromstat or the sending unit. Where is the sending unit on this car and how do I check it?
Drive Safe,
Joe
