Heya again..
appreciate the views and sharings.
Youre right abt sg not having many indies... there are 2 workshops that deal with Saab and their prices are pegged to a couple of notches below the dealer.
My take on the dealer is that he's choosing to err on the safe side and is only recommending these fixes. I've had some mechanics prophecise doomsday scenarios and catastrophic failures if their recommendations werent implemented ASAP.
Its thanks to your shared experiences and knowledge that I've been spared a hefty bill. (didn't 'kena ketuk' or get cheated as we say here in Singapore)
What I will do is change the mounts.. they are slightly cracked. The rest of the stuff will be monitored and changed IAW the Saab maintenance schedule. Only thing is average distanced clocked in Singapore are much lower than in the States... abt 20000km a year? we do abt 35000 km cos we drive up to Malaysia a fair bit. Its not uncommon to find 3 year old Saabs with <40000kms on them.
Any recommendations on online parts retailers with the best prices? (I will check out the site sponsors of course)
Also, does the PCV fix have a specific SAAB circular or work-order number that I can quote to the dealer?
Thanks and God bless.
Shaun
