You will have trouble in anything more than a dusting. If it’s a slushy mess, you will be better off than powdery snow. However, watch the outside temperature. From my experience, I have a hunch that the reason these tires are wearing out so quickly is people are running them through the cold winter and wearing away the rubber in bigger pieces when the rubber hardens in the cold. No proof, just a hunch. I didn’t want to deal with winter wheels/tires either in the NY area. If you can afford to park the car in the snow, then you will be fine, but the Rossos are not an all season in any sense and if the tread is getting worn down you could even have trouble in the rain.
You can wear these out and then switch to something like the Nokian WR in the 17” size and run those all year, but you will lose some summer performance. Just keep in mind ~$1000 and the storage hassle is a whole lot easier than an accident. And you get to use mileage on the tires so your only outlay is the wheels, for which you can recover some on resale. Don’t buy anything too winter oriented if you rarely see snow. WR or the Saab package should be fine. I went the WR route because I had them on another car (thanks to this BB) and they have been great.
