With the usual caveats regarding synthetic oils in cars which haven't had them...

RedLine is unique in using polyol ester base stock. This is the only base stock used for jet engine lubricants due to its superior high temperature properties. Er, you don't have a jet engine, do you.... OK, other than that, RedLine lacks many of the certifications that AmSoil and even Mobil 1 have ... GM LL 25A, ACEA A3/B3, and a host of other manufacturers' "special requirements." This does *not* necessarily mean that RedLine would fail any of those tests - the tests are quite expensive and the cost must be recovered in product pricing. Perhaps RedLine decided that the extra cost of runnning the tests wouldn't buy them enough additional buyers to warrant the additional expense. Clearly Amsoil decided it would be worth it.

There's more to oil than the base stock - there's the additive package, the quality controls in manufacturing, and the distribution. The only sure way of getting the results you want is to go by the specifications. I question whether RedLine's quality difference, assuming it is everything they say, is worth taking the risk, but that is your decision to make.
