I cannot asnwer the question you posed about the cassette adaptor, but I had the XM commander in my Aero for a week and had my installer take it out. The FM modulator is definitely not up to the task, and introduces a lot of hiss as you change location and get within a competing frequency's range. As far as a direct connection, you need not worry about having anyone take apart your dash, becasue there is no way to get a DC level signal with the output of the XM radio into the current Saab radio. It's been tried, and cannot be done. I think Saab has lost out in the marketing department by not haveing solved this problem, because from a technical stadpoint, it is easy, but requires having the radio redesigned. Who knows, maybe the 06 mid cycle enhancement will include this, but so far, no info on that.
